April 5th, 2018 Yakima River Fishing Report

Fishing has been decent with skwala’s and March browns crawling and flying around. We’re mostly limited to just nymphing throughout the day until we start seeing fish splashing at skwala’s or podding up to slurp march browns.

For nymphing, fish a size 10 pat’s stone with a San Juan worm or bead head pheasant tail (size 14 -10) below it. When you notice fish hitting dries, or even just start to notice skwala’s flying around, don’t hesitate to fish any sort of olive/brown adult stonefly imitation (size 12-8), with a size 12 or 10 march brown dry, or emerger behind it.

Keep an eye out for rising water here, and feel free to call either shop with questions about water levels, clarity, and where to fish.
