April 23rd, 2018 Yakima River Fishing Report

Although the flows and weather have been amazing, the fishing has started to slow down as fish start to spawn. There are still a couple fish sipping march browns and bwo’s in the afternoon, but overall that’s the best action that we’ve been able to find. Be prepared to really work for your fish, or maybe just stick to the lakes.

If they’re slurping dries, then a size 12 or 14 purple haze, or march brown imitation will be fine. For the rest of the time stick to nymphing smaller hairs ears and pheasant tails (size 14-18) with smaller (size 12 or 10) pat’s stone above it.

Keep and eye on the water levels here, since this warm weather will be melting a lot of snow.
