May 31st, 2018 – Yakima River Fishing Report

The Yak is in great condition and fishing pretty dang well! There's been a lot of nymphing, but we have had a bit of dry fly action with caddis. Most of the caddis have been down in the canyon, but we did see some fish rising to caddis just above the bullfrog boat launch right before dark. We should be seeing golden stones popping off pretty soon, along with some green drakes on the upper river.

Fish are also eating streamers! It's a great time to head out with your trout spey and swing some sculpins or bait-fish. We've been sticking to woolly buggers, sculpzilla's, and sparkle minnows with a sink tip line.

Just a heads up, there is a log across the river right below the Ensign boat launch! You can drag light boats around it on the right, but just keep that in mind when you're deciding where to float.
