June 27th, 2018 – Yakima River Fishing Report

The fishing has been amazing lately with mostly all dry fly action! Chubby Chernobyl’s and Chernobyl Ant’s have been the most effective. We’re even starting to see a few hoppers, so be prepared to start throwing them any day now. For droppers, any sort of pmd or caddis emerger has been the most effect. Fish have also been feeding on the PMD and caddis dries in the evening, but there are a lot of smaller fish that will take your fly before the bigger fish sees it.

For streamers, Lil Kim’s, sparkle minnow’s, and sculpzilla’s have been our go too flies. Just remember to fish them with a sink tip to help get them down, and stick to fishing structure.

If you want to nymph, a pat’s stone with any sort of beadhead dropper will work great. Flies like pheasant tails, hares ears, and copper johns that imitate a wide variety of bugs have been the most effective.
