Look’s like we’re in for some beautiful weather this weekend, with lots of opportunities to get out can catch some fish! To start things off I’d like to remind everyone the Upper Cle Elum River and the Teanaway River are closed to fishing, and won’t be open until the 1st Saturday in June.
The Yak has been fishing very well recently and has stayed in great shape! It does have a little bit of color in it, but if you ask us it’s only made things better. Lot’s of fish have been keying in on March Browns both above and below the surface, and BWO’s and Skwala’s are still active as well.
Pheasant Tails in sizes 14 and 12 have been the most effective below the surface, fished below a pat’s stone. For dries, the classic Western March Brown, Pheasant Tail Parachute or Purple Haze will all have you covered.
As far as options other than the Yakima, Lake fishing has been very good. Spots like Dry Falls, Mattoon and Omak have been producing fish on leeches and chironomids.
You can also throw flies for bass in the small lakes around Ellensburg. Places like Fio Rito, Woodhouse and Tjossum have all been producing decent sized bass on larger woolly buggers and streamers.
As usual, if you have any questions then feel free to call the shop!
