February 12th, 2019 – Yakima River Fishing Report

The river is finally back in shape, and it’s looking like this weekend we’ll be set up to have some great conditions and awesome fishing!

Currently the river has a bit of color to it so fish will be on worms and streamers. Stonefly nymphs will be starting get much more active as Spring slowly comes around, so for your nymphing its hard to beat a turd and a worm. For stones, we like the olive/brown, tan/brown and coffee/black in sizes 6-12.  For worms, the fish won’t be too picky. Pink’s and red’s are always the most consistent, and fish very well with a white beadhead.

As far as streamers go, Gabe tied up some small slumpbusters that swing very well throughout the year. Woolly buggers, muddlers, small zonkers in black, olive and white are our go-to’s for Spring. Fish them with a sink tip and swing them slowly around drop-offs, riffles and structure.

Now is the time to book your early Spring trip! We still have some weekend space available and we should start to see some Skwala’s popping off in the next 2-3 weeks. Give us a call to get some of the best action the Yakima has to offer!
