Yakima River Fishing Report – August 4th, 2022

The Yakima is in great shape and the fishing has been awesome! We’ve been throwing dry droppers all day, sticking to getting on the river early before the heat of the day slows things down. We’ve been having a ton of fun throwing big hoppers at the bank, and a few big fish have been coming out to eat them.

If you weren’t already aware Green Bridge is now closed to access through November, so make sure to plan a bit longer float and take out down at Diversion for the time being.

Flies

Dries

Dry droppers have been the go-to setup so having some dries that can hold up something heavy is a must right now. Outside of that, a single dry has been fishing good as well, and bugs like stimulators and PMX’s without a dropper can be a ton of fun.

Nymphs

Nymphing has been the last resort for when fish don’t want to eat the dry dropper, but a pat’s with some sort of small bug has been the way to go.

Streamers

There are still a few fish willing to eat streamers, make sure you cover water and fish structure.
